This is a new venture which evolved from my former band The Ratcatchers Skiffle Group  - a unit I formed, originally, and especially, to contribute towards the first National Skiffle Conference and Concert hosted by The Bluecoat Chambers, Liverpool in 2003. With some former members of The Ratcatchers, and some new members, The Lonesome Travellers consists of a number of very experienced musicians – and prides itself upon being a flexible unit, equipped to cater for events for both older and younger audiences in large or small venues. [Solo, Duo & Trio combinations of the group are also available]

The act includes several songs by Lonnie Donegan and other Skiffle artistes from the 1950s and we have found these are received very well by those who remember these artistes fondly from the time. However, the nature of the music and the way it is played with instruments including the Washboard, Double-Bass, Mandolin, Harmonica, Guitar, Banjo, Kazoo etc. also lends itself to Hillbilly songs (hence the SkiffleBilly combination) and these, we have found, hold a fascination for the younger audience also.

The Lonesome Travellers present their ‘good-time’, ‘foot-tapping/stomping’, sing-along, participatory act in Hillbilly garb and do their very best to leave their audiences smiling and uplifted.

This website then, has a threefold purpose: firstly to launch The Lonesome Travellers as a new act; secondly to put together a LIST of VENUES (small and large) that would be interested in trying out a Skiffle/SkiffleBilly night and, thirdly to compile a national/international POOL of MUSICIANS (busking buddies) that could be drawn upon to stand in should the need arise and we happen to be gigging in your part of the country/world.
